7.65X53 Mauser is more commonly known as the 7.65 MAUSER ARGENTINE MAUSER basically since large numbers of surplus rifles was first imported into the United States from Argentine beginning in the 1950’s.  The 7.65X53mm cartridge was first used in the Mauser Werke’s Model 1889 Rifle, Belgium purchased the manufacturing rights.  Mauser later created Models 1890 and 1891 which Turkey, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay, Ecuador and Columbia armies later adopted the rifles.
