Description
50 per box of factory new Hornady unprimed 6.5 mm-284 (6.5 X 284 Norma, 6.5 X 284 Winchester) brass rifle cartridge cases.
Two most common variations of the 6.5-284 is simply to neck the case of 284 Win. Mag. down to accept .264 diameter bullets. The 6.5-284 Winchester is a wildcat with overall cartridge length of 2.80 inches and designed to work in 308-length actions. In 1999 the 6.5-284 Norma became a industry standard cartridge with the COL of 3.228 inches. The Norma variation requires 30-06-length actions because the throat is cut longer, the goal here is to shoot longer bullets and maximize powder capacity. NOTE: Chamber dimensions should be known prior to reloading with the Norma specifications.
RELOADING PREPARATION:
Brass case mouths MAY not be perfectly round from the manufacturing process, this can be corrected by running brass through the size die (always recommended) prior to loading. Residue from the annealing process may leave a stain on the case neck that can be removed by tumbling. Annealing involves rapid heating then cooling to impart the shell cases with the proper hardness to securely hold bullets in place and provides flexibility to expand and contract through multiple firings handloaders expect.
