480 RUGER is based on the .45-70 case, a joint venture between Hornady and Ruger to create a powerful cartridge that has felt recoil on par with a 454 Casull.  First appeared in a Ruger Super Redhawk at the time shooting a 325-grain Mag Tip XTP at 1500-fps.Currenlty Barnes is one of a few bullet makers still providing a .475 diameter bullet.
