HISTORY: First appeared in 1902 in the S&W Military and Police revolver.  Since then it will be hard to find a firearms manufactured of revolvers that does not offer a 38 SPCL in their lineup.  Officially named 38 Smith & Wesson Special, bullet diameter of .357 with bullet weights commonly ranging from 110 through 158-grains.
