HISTORY: Introduced in the Model 70 in 1958, the parent case is the 458 Win Mag. The concept was to create a powerful, flat shooting cartridge that was short enough to cycle in standard-length magazines.  Factory-loaded 200-grain bullets advertise 3050 fps, which equate to more energy at 500 yards than a 30-30 produces at the muzzle.
