Description
33 WINCHESTER-33 W.C.F. AMMUNITION
33 Winchester (33 W.C.F.) manufactured by Barber’s Ammunition from Essex Junction, VT (no longer in business). Formed from Winchester 45-70 cases, 200-grain Flat Tip bullets (best guess Hornady #3315, which was the only manufacture that made the bullets at one time).
The 33 Winchester appeared in 1902 originally chambered in the 1886. The rifle and cartridge was discontinued in 1936 in favor of a new model, the Model 71 chambered in 348 Winchester. Ammunition was no longer offered a few years later. At this time I am not aware of any source of 33 Winchester brass and all cases are generally formed from 45-70 cases. Load data on the Flat Point bullet can be found Hornady 4th Edition. Later edition manuals will reference the 200-gr FTX bullet.
