HISTORY: The 25-20 Single Shot is to long to operate in the Winchester Model 92 so the shorter version (the 25-20 W.C.F.) with a more pronounced bottleneck was created.  Gun Writer J. Francis Rabbeth designed one of the first 25-caliber wildcats (the 25-20 Single Shot) around 1882 and the first commercial cartridges was loaded by Remington (UMC) and shortly afterwards Maynard, Remington, Stevens and Winchester chambered this round in single shot rifles.
