17 HORNET HISTORY: A 1950’s wildcat was the 17 HORNET ACKLEY, Hornady removed some case taper and standardized the design and created a  17 HORNET.  An efficient cartridge that requires nearly half a powder charge compared to a 223 Remington and at the same time mirrors the trajectory.
